PhD Candidate Kyra attends IPICS in Banff and wins poster presentation prize!
From October 11 to 21, 2026, PhD candidate Kyra represented Utrecht ice core research at the quadrennial meeting of the International Partnerships in Ice Core Sciences (IPICS), followed by a workshop on ice deformation in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
The 1.5 weeks flew by, filled with inspiring discussions, innovative ideas, new international connections and fruitful exchanges. It was particularly exciting to see how the threads of everyone's individual research connected, helping shape future directions for the international ice core community.
The trip to Canada was made even more memorable by Kyra receiving the IPICS Poster Award for her contribution to the session on firn and ice physics--Congratulations, Kyra!! (and by Northern Lights above Greenland on the flight back)
